A solution to the Palestinian Israeli problem

A solution to the Palestinian Israeli problem

By John Chopores

What I propose is this:

That if the Israelis and the Palestinians will each make certain concessions, they can live reasonably secure alongside of each other.

What I am here stating is merely my personal opinion, and a general outline that I believe will be workable.

What I believe will work:

On the Israeli side:

1. That they recognize the lands that Israel has agreed to let them live in; as sovereign nations under Palestinian control.

2. That they agree to, sign publicly, announce and enforce a nonaggression treaty with the Palestinians.

3. That they offer and pay billions of dollars to Palestinians that had to unwillingly vacate their property because of new Israeli settlements.

4. That any buildings that they may build on the Temple Mount, will not involve the destruction of the Dome of the rock, and that Palestinians be allowed access to it at all times.

5. That they will not carry on police, or covert operations within Palestinian territory without prior approval of the Palestinian governments.

6. That no new Israeli settlements will be built within 15 miles of a Palestinian border.

7. That the city of Jerusalem is maintained as a Jewish and international city: thereby allowing any nationality or religious group to reside within its borders.

8. That every seven years within the city of Jerusalem there be held a conference with the theme of understanding between Jews Arabs and Christians.

9. An agreement, that neither side will fly military planes over the other side's capital without prior consent.

10. An agreement, that neither side will fly military planes over the other side's capital without prior consent.

11. Economic trade agreements with the other side.

12. That each side recognizes the other side as having a historical presence in the Middle East.

On the Palestinian side:

1. That they recognize that Israel is a sovereign nation has a right to exist.

2. That they sign a mutual nonaggression treaty with Israel, and do all that they can on their side to enforce it.

3. That they help maintain a demilitarized zone between their lands and that of Israel.

4. That they agree to let Israel have control of most of the Temple Mount (excluding the Dome of the Rock and least one major access route to it), and allow them to build whatever religious structures there that they might deem necessary.

5. That no long-range missiles or artillery will be placed on Palestinian territory that is facing a common border with Israel.

6. An agreement, that neither side will fly military planes over the other side's capital without prior consent.

7. Economic trade agreements with the other side.

8. That they recognize Jerusalem as the capital of the nation of Israel.

9. That each side recognizes the other side as having a historical presence in the Middle East.
